How to Use Claude for People Search with Live Contact Data

TL;DR:

  • Claude on its own has no people database. Ask it who runs marketing at a company and it answers from training data, which misses recent hires and guesses at email addresses.
  • The Firecrawl connector gives Claude live people data from Apollo, FullEnrich and Data Legion in Firecrawl Alexandria.
  • Apollo people search is free. In a test run, one prompt returned nine marketing previews across Vercel and Linear for 0 credits, six of them flagged with an email on record.
  • FullEnrich finds people by background (skills, past employers, universities) and identifies the person behind an email address. Data Legion fills in records you already have.
  • Paid lookups run from 5 to 175 credits each, and Claude can show the price before every call.

AI people search usually means one of four jobs: finding the decision makers at a company, finding people with a particular background, working out who is behind an email address, or filling in the gaps on a contact list. Claude can plan each job and reason over the results once it has records to work from.

With the Firecrawl connector turned on, Claude works as an AI people finder that queries the people providers in Firecrawl Alexandria, Firecrawl's library of licensed data sources, and comes back with names, titles, employers and work emails with a confidence status.

Can Claude do people search on its own?

Claude can't do people search reliably on its own because it has no people database. What it knows about who works where comes from training data, which has a cutoff and leaves most people out entirely.

  1. Out-of-date roles. People change jobs, so Claude may name the person who ran sales two years ago.
  2. Missing people. Claude's training data may not include many people outside well-known executive roles, such as a regional sales director at a 200-person company.
  3. Guessed email addresses. Given a name and a domain, Claude will write firstname.lastname at that domain whether or not the inbox exists. Anthropic notes that Claude can produce incorrect or misleading answers, and an email address is useless unless every character is right.

Claude's web search finds team pages and press releases, which helps with well-known names. Searching a contact database by title, filtering by seniority and checking whether an address is deliverable all need a people data provider.

How do you set up Firecrawl in Claude for people search?

Connect the Firecrawl connector from Claude's directory, turn it on in your chat and have an admin accept FullEnrich's terms.

  1. Open the Firecrawl connector page and click Connect. Sign in to Firecrawl, pick the team to bill and approve. New users can create a free account at that step.
  2. In a chat, open the + menu, go to Connectors and turn Firecrawl on.
  3. Have an org admin accept FullEnrich's terms in the Firecrawl dashboard. It is a one-time step, and FullEnrich tools won't run for your team until it's done.

The Firecrawl in Claude page walks through setup. Claude Code users can install the official Firecrawl plugin instead.

Do you need a Firecrawl API key or paid plan for people search in Claude?

You need neither for a first run.

  • No API key. The connector signs in to your Firecrawl account when you connect it, so there is nothing to paste into Claude.
  • Billing. Every lookup is billed to the team you picked when you connected.
  • Free plan. It includes 1,000 credits a month with no card required.

Firecrawl also has a keyless tier that searches, scrapes and interacts with pages without an account, but it doesn't cover people search. Apollo, FullEnrich and Data Legion need a signed-in team, and FullEnrich also needs an admin to accept its terms.

At the prices below, 1,000 credits covers any number of free Apollo searches plus about 30 Apollo matches or 50 FullEnrich work emails. The free plan returns an error when its credits run out instead of charging you, and the pricing page lists the paid plans for larger lists.

Which data providers can Claude use for people search?

With the Firecrawl connector, Claude can use Apollo, FullEnrich and Data Legion, which joined Firecrawl Alexandria as the people enrichment pack. Which one to use depends on what you already know about the person.

ProviderStart here when you haveWhat Claude gets back
ApolloA role and a companyFree previews of matching people (first name, masked surname, title, employer, whether an email exists), then a work email, title and job history for the people you pick
FullEnrichA background to search onProfiles filtered by skills, past employers, past titles, universities, seniority and time in role, plus work email, mobile number and reverse email lookup
Data LegionA record you already holdA person matched from an email, phone number or name plus company, or a company from its domain, with a cheaper tier that skips contact data

Firecrawl Alexandria's people category also includes public registers. OpenSanctions checks a name against sanctions and politically exposed persons lists, and the NPI Registry confirms a US healthcare provider's identity, specialty and practice location.

Your prompts can leave the provider names out. Describe the person or list you want and Claude asks Firecrawl Alexandria which tools can supply it and what each costs, and that lookup is free. To build the same lookups into your own app, the providers also work as a people search API, and the Firecrawl Alexandria docs cover the request format.

How do you find decision makers at a company with Claude?

To find people at a company, ask Claude to run Apollo's free people search with the job titles and company domains you want, read the previews, then pay to reveal only the people worth contacting. This prompt looks for marketing leaders at three companies:

Use Firecrawl to run Apollo's free people search for marketing leaders
(Head of Marketing, VP of Marketing, CMO) at vercel.com, linear.app and
notion.so. Show me the previews in a table with title, company and
whether an email is on record. Don't reveal anyone yet.

We ran the same search through Firecrawl Alexandria on 18 October 2026. It returned nine previews for 0 credits:

  • Seven at Vercel and two at Linear. Each preview carried a first name, a masked surname, a title and the company.
  • Six of the nine were flagged with an email on record. Those are the people a paid match is likely to resolve.
  • Nothing came back for notion.so. Some companies are filed under a different domain, so if a company you expect returns nothing, ask Claude to retry with its other domains.
  • Titles were matched loosely. The results included a field marketing manager and a marketing manager alongside the CMO. Tell Claude to drop anyone below the seniority you want before you pay for contacts.

A second prompt then reveals the three most senior people:

Match the CMO and the two heads of marketing from that list with Apollo
and give me their work email, current title and when they started.
Tell me the total credits before you run it.

Apollo person match costs 30 credits per matched person, and a miss is free. Three matches cost at most 90 credits.

What other people searches can Claude run?

Beyond role-based search, Claude can find people by background, identify who owns an email address, check a contact list for job changes, get one person's work email and screen names against sanctions lists.

How do you find people by skills or past employers in Claude?

FullEnrich searches by what someone has done, which helps when a job title doesn't describe the person you need:

With Firecrawl, use FullEnrich people search to find engineering managers
in London who previously worked at Stripe or Monzo and list Kubernetes as
a skill. Show 6 profiles with current employer and time in role.

Each returned profile costs 5 credits, and an empty search costs nothing. To use Claude for recruiting, shortlist candidates on background this way and pull contact details only for the people you'll approach. The recruiting section of how to use Claude at work covers hiring benchmarks to pair with it.

How do you find out who sent you an email?

Start the Claude people lookup from the address itself and ask for the person and company behind it:

Use Firecrawl to find out who owns sam@example.com. Give me their name,
title and company, and a one-line summary of what the company does.

FullEnrich reverse email lookup costs 20 credits per match. Use it for inbound signups and demo requests that arrive with only an address.

How do you check whether a contact list is up to date?

Give Claude the names and company domains and ask it to run them through Data Legion's base tier, which confirms each person's current title and employer without returning contact data:

I have five contacts with names and company domains. Use Firecrawl and
Data Legion's base tier without contact data to confirm each person's
current title and employer. Flag anyone who has moved on.

Data Legion's no-contact tier costs 10 credits per successful match, so it is the cheap way to check whether a list is still accurate before paying for emails.

How do you get one person's work email in Claude?

Give Claude the person's name and company domain and ask it to find the address with FullEnrich, which returns the person's likeliest work address and its confidence status for 20 credits per email found:

Use Firecrawl and FullEnrich to find Jane Doe's work email at example.com.
Return the email, its status and her current title.

How to find someone's work email in Claude covers this job in depth, including what to do when FullEnrich comes back empty.

How do you check a name against sanctions lists in Claude?

Ask Claude to search OpenSanctions for the person or company, which checks names against sanctions and politically exposed persons lists:

With Firecrawl, search OpenSanctions for "Acme Trading Ltd" and its two
directors, and tell me whether any of them appear on a sanctions or PEP
list. Link each match to its source.

Names collide, so check any match against the date of birth, nationality or registration number in the source record before acting on it.

How much does people search in Claude cost?

Apollo people search costs 0 credits, and paid lookups run from 5 to 175 credits each. Browsing Firecrawl Alexandria and its prices is free, and every paid call is billed to your Firecrawl team (compare plans).

What rules apply to people data from Claude?

Each provider's terms still apply when you reach it through Firecrawl Alexandria, and so do privacy laws such as GDPR.

  • Provider terms. Some providers need an org admin to accept their terms before the first call. A blocked call returns a link to the acceptance page, and the admin accepts once in the Firecrawl dashboard.
  • Personal email addresses. FullEnrich's terms bar marketing to personal addresses. Keep outreach to work email.
  • Privacy law. Holding a named person's details brings obligations under laws such as GDPR. Collect what you need, keep a record of where it came from, and give people a way to opt out.
  • Professional use. These providers cover people in their working lives, so keep searches to role, employer and professional background, as the prompts in this post do.

This is a summary, not legal advice.
