See which startups closed a round recently, how much they raised, who invested and which pages reported it, and then reach the right person at each one. With the Firecrawl connector switched on, Claude searches startup funding rounds in Firecrawl Alexandria. There, Fireround tracks raises from pre-seed to growth stage and Apollo knows who works at those companies.
Best for
- Sellers and partnership leads hunting for companies with money they just received.

Starter prompt
Edit the sector, stages and window, then paste it:
Use Firecrawl to find startups that just raised money. Search Fireround in
Firecrawl Alexandria for fintech seed and Series A rounds announced in the
past 14 days, and tell me each tool's price before you run it.
For every round, list:
- The company, what it does and where it's based.
- The stage as written, the amount in USD and as written, and the date.
- Lead investors and other participants.
- The certainty, the number of sources and a link to the official
announcement.
Leave out anything that wasn't announced on the record, and don't fill in
missing amounts.Before you start
- Hook up Firecrawl. Press Connect on the Firecrawl connector listing. A Firecrawl window asks you to sign in or register free, choose a team and allow access. Firecrawl in Claude explains each step.
- Activate it per conversation. Click +, open Connectors and set Firecrawl to on. Nothing else to configure, and calls draw on your team's credits.
- Decide which certainty levels you want. Fireround includes announced, reported and expected rounds unless told otherwise, so ask for announced only when you need deals that have closed.
Limitations of using Claude to find startups that just raised money
Venture news appears in many outlets on the same day, and the first account is often revised. That causes six problems.
- New raises aren't in the training data. Claude models are trained up to a cutoff date, and Anthropic says they may lack information about later events (Anthropic). A round that closed yesterday is outside what Claude learned.
- Reports come from everywhere. Crunchbase compiles funding records using input from companies and investors, over a thousand news sources and government filings (Crunchbase). A chat's web search samples just a handful of pages from all that.
- Negotiations can read like closings. Reuters wrote in July 2024 that Magic was negotiating to raise over $200 million, citing three sources (Reuters). Condensed, that can turn into a raise that already happened.
- One valuation figure can blur the terms. TechCrunch said some investors in Aaru's Series A paid a $1 billion valuation while others paid less, so the blended number fell short of $1 billion, and the total size of the round wasn't available (TechCrunch). Ranking deals by headline figures compares different things.
- Paperwork arrives late and says little. Under Regulation D, Form D is due 15 calendar days after the first investor becomes irrevocably committed (SEC), and Investor.gov describes it as a brief notice listing items like the offering amount and first sale date (Investor.gov). The filing can land up to two weeks after the money is committed.
- Made-up backers. Anthropic warns that Claude may display quotes that look authoritative yet aren't grounded in fact, and tells users to review the sources it cites (Anthropic). Pairing a famous fund with a hot startup is an easy mistake for a model.
How it works
Four parts sit behind every answer:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: the catalog where Claude locates a funding or people tool, sees its cost and calls it. Apollo is one of over 100 official providers Firecrawl pays to license, and Fireround is listed there too, as are the Research, Developer, Government and web indexes Firecrawl operates. Firecrawl measured the difference over 845 tasks, changing nothing but the tools and having AI judges grade blind, and answers from agents using Firecrawl Alexandria rated 21% higher in quality than those from agents restricted to their built-in web tools.
- Verified rounds: Fireround picks up raises across the open web and checks every one against its original pages. Each arrives with its evidence sentence, as many as five source links with the official announcement listed first, a count of all sources, and verified or provisional flags.
- Labels you can filter on: every round is tagged announced, reported, expected or unconfirmed. When we tried it, a Series B extension that Forbes based on an anonymous insider was returned as reported, backed by two sources.
- Contacts last: Apollo previews the staff of any funded company for free, so credits go only toward the people you decide to match.

Coverage limits
- Stage names come from the reports. Fireround stores the stage the way the source phrased it, and anything that doesn't fit a standard stage goes into a catch-all like other. During testing, a $150 million growth equity raise was classed as other, which a stage filter would miss.
- Figures get normalized. Raises in foreign currencies are converted to dollars, and "over $100 million" becomes 100. When the exact number matters, read the original wording.
- The date is the announcement. One seed round we saw closed in July yet carries an October date, because that's when it was announced.
- No investment advice. You learn who raised and who invested, not whether the company is a sound investment.
