Starter prompt
Replace NVDA with the ticker you follow:
Use Firecrawl to pull today's NVDA stories from Benzinga's real-time
newswire in Firecrawl Alexandria. Check the price of each tool and tell me
before you run it.
Put together a quick briefing:
- The five most important stories that are mainly about Nvidia, newest
first, with publish time, headline and link.
- Today's Benzinga Why Is It Moving note for NVDA, if one exists.
- A line on anything in those stories that touches other tickers.
Stay with what the stories report and skip any buy or sell advice. Before you start
- Add the connector. Visit the Firecrawl connector listing and hit Connect. A Firecrawl tab appears for logging in, selecting your team and granting access; first-timers can register for free right there, and there's no key to copy. Firecrawl in Claude explains each step.
- Switch it on for the conversation. Click +, choose Connectors, then toggle Firecrawl.
- Clear provider terms. A few Firecrawl Alexandria providers only run after your organization agrees to their terms, and a team admin can sign off on them inside Firecrawl's dashboard.
Limitations of using Claude for real-time stock news
Without a data source attached, Claude works from what it learned before a cutoff and from pages its web search can open. For anyone following markets, six gaps show up.
- Training ends on a set date. Every Claude model learned from data up to a specific point (June 2026 for Opus 5.5), and Anthropic cautions that anything after that date may be unknown to it, which makes answers about very recent happenings unreliable (Anthropic). This morning's headlines fall on the wrong side of that line.
- Search reads secondhand coverage. Claude's web search grounds a reply in live pages and cites them, and Anthropic notes the answer is only as good as the sources it draws on (Anthropic). A press release that several sites have already paraphrased arrives filtered through them.
- Big companies crowd out small ones. Large caps draw far more analyst and media attention, which gives models more text to work from and more confidence in their forecasts. Thinly covered companies tend to be handled more cautiously, according to a 2026 CFA Institute piece on attention bias in AI investing.
- Sources vary in credibility. Weakly checked information produces misleading conclusions (Quadratic), and in a list of search results a blog repeating a rumor can sit right next to a newswire report.
- Figures can come out wrong. Anthropic warns that Claude sometimes produces incorrect or misleading responses and advises against relying on it as your only source (Anthropic). LLM grounding in structured data keeps it from inventing a number, though a stated figure is still worth checking against the cited story.
- The volume is overwhelming. Thousands of headlines and press items hit the market each day (Quadratic), while one reply has room for a few. The useful stories need to be sorted by ticker, topic and time before Claude sees them.
How it works
Four pieces make real-time stock news in Claude work:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: the store of agent-ready data that Firecrawl runs. It brings together 100+ official providers, each under contract and paid per use, plus Firecrawl's index of the web and separate indexes for research, developer and government content. Firecrawl ran 845 tasks holding the model and prompts fixed, with an AI judge scoring blind, and answers from agents with Firecrawl Alexandria came out 21% better in quality than agents equipped with nothing beyond built-in web tools.
- News feed: Benzinga's news search pulls only the tickers, topics, importance levels and hours you name, so a small-cap's headlines stay visible next to market-wide noise.
- The reason behind a move: Why Is It Moving notes explain a price swing in a sentence or two, with attribution and a time.
- Reading only: the connector is tied to your Firecrawl account and nothing else, so Claude can fetch news but cannot see a brokerage account or trade.
Getting real-time stock news in Claude with and without Firecrawl Alexandria
| Claude without a data source | Claude using Firecrawl Alexandria | |
|---|---|---|
| Origin of the news | Training data plus pages that report on a story | Benzinga's newswire, queried when you send the prompt |
| Freshness | Depends on when other sites covered it | Every story carries its own publish time |
| A single ticker | Relevance ranking lets big-market stories push smaller names down | A ticker filter returns everything filed under that symbol |
| Source | Wire stories, blogs and reposts look much the same | Benzinga, one of the official Firecrawl Alexandria providers, linking each story to its original. There are 100+ official providers in total, from finance and travel to government and company data. See them all |
| Narrowing results | Whatever the search happens to return | Ticker, topic, importance and time window filters |
| Ongoing tracking | Each prompt is a single request | Claude can't schedule this, but from Firecrawl you can set up a Firecrawl Monitor to rerun a web search or check a company newsroom at set intervals and alert you over email or Slack |

AMZN and TSLA, keeping only importance 3 or above. Group them by ticker,
newest first, one sentence and a publish time per story. For a single theme across the market:
Use Firecrawl to find stock news from this week that mentions tariffs, only
market-moving stories, with the tickers each was filed under. Finish with
the five tickers that appear most often.Naming the tickers or topic, the window and the depth you want per story keeps Claude's answer easy to scan.

Use Firecrawl to list the data providers that offer real-time stock news,
with every tool and its per-call price. What it costs
Nothing is charged while Claude searches for tools, inspects their fields or looks up prices. A call to a provider is what spends credits, deducted from the team you connected, and Firecrawl pricing lists the allowance on each plan.
| Benzinga tool | Question it answers | Credits per call |
|---|---|---|
| News search | Which stories ran on a company or theme, and when | 30 |
| Why Is It Moving | Why the share price just jumped or fell | 45 |
| Analyst ratings | Rating moves and targets set by individual firms (paid plans) | 30 |
| Consensus ratings | How analysts split across buy, hold and sell | 30 |
| Unusual options activity | Outsized options bets on a ticker | 45 |
Since Claude looks at the price ahead of each run, asking it to pause for your OK costs nothing.
Connect Firecrawl and ask Claude what happened to any ticker today. Looking up the right source is free.
