Starter prompt
Replace the company with the one you cover:
Use Firecrawl to put together a one-page note on NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA)
from Fiscal.ai, SEC EDGAR and FRED in Firecrawl Alexandria. Quote the
cost of every tool before calling it.
The note should have:
- Revenue, gross profit and net income for the trailing twelve months,
with the period end and the source filing.
- Fiscal.ai's peer list and the reasoning given for each peer.
- Three quoted points from management on the most recent earnings call.
- The newest US unemployment reading from FRED and its date.
Only use returned numbers, and give no buy, sell or hold opinion. Before you start
- Link your Firecrawl account. Hit Connect on the Firecrawl connector, then sign in (a new account is free), assign the team whose credits pay and grant access. Nothing technical to configure; Firecrawl in Claude illustrates the steps.
- Switch it on. In a chat, open the + menu, pick Connectors and enable Firecrawl.
- Plan for paid-only providers. Benzinga's news and analyst tools need a paid Firecrawl plan, and Claude flags it when your plan doesn't include a tool.
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors, pick Firecrawl, and under Tool permissions set the Read-only tools group to Always allow, so Claude can run lookups without asking each time. Some of those lookups use Firecrawl credits, so keep confirmation on if you'd rather approve each paid call yourself.
Limitations of using Claude for finance without Firecrawl
In finance a small error in a number or a date changes the conclusion. Claude working from memory has five weak spots there.
- Possible inaccuracies. Anthropic's own guidance is to treat Claude as one input among several, since some answers will be wrong or misleading (Anthropic). A margin or EPS figure is exactly the kind of detail to verify.
- A fixed cutoff. Each model's knowledge has an end date, Anthropic explains, so later developments may be absent or wrong (Anthropic). Results from the latest quarter won't be in what Claude remembers.
- Real-time and proprietary data. The CFA Institute points out that a model's frozen knowledge leaves it struggling with new, proprietary or real-time information, and recommends retrieving it instead (CFA Institute).
- Precision errors. In the CFA's own test, a model got a pay-ratio calculation nearly right but invented the last two digits, answering 99.7864% instead of 99.7854% (CFA Institute).
- Regulator warnings. The SEC, NASAA and FINRA advise investors not to rely solely on AI-generated information, which may draw on outdated or false data or be made up entirely (Investor.gov).
Where Claude gets statements, transcripts and FRED series with Firecrawl
Teams using Claude for financial services research get answers from four parts:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: where the financial data comes from. Fiscal.ai is one of more than 100 official, licensed providers in it, and Firecrawl adds indexes of its own, including the Firecrawl Government Index. With an AI judge grading 845 tasks blind, agents with Firecrawl Alexandria behind them beat default-web agents by 21% on quality.
- Auditable statements: in our test, Fiscal.ai reported trailing-twelve-month revenue for NVIDIA of roughly $303.0 billion through Jul 26, 2026, and pointed to the 10-Q page the number was taken from.
- Documents around each quarter: Fiscal.ai lists the release, slides and call transcript for an earnings event (NVIDIA's was Aug 26, 2026), and SEC EDGAR returns filing sections as plain text.
- The economy alongside: FRED put US unemployment at 4.2% for September 2026, a series it last updated on Oct 2.
