Hand Claude the research that eats into a workday, like prepping for a client call, checking a competitor, comparing two vendors or digging through an annual report, and get answers grounded in business records. The Firecrawl connector gives Claude access to Firecrawl Alexandria, where Apollo, SEC EDGAR, PeerSpot, Similarweb and other providers supply the facts. Below you'll find team-by-team examples, each with a prompt and the result our own test returned.
Best for
- Account executives and customer success managers getting ready for a meeting.
- Product marketers and founders tracking competitors.
- Finance, procurement and IT teams evaluating vendors or a public company.
Connector and data providers
Connector: the Firecrawl connector. Through it, Claude can search the web, scrape pages and call tools from the Firecrawl Alexandria catalog, and paid lookups draw on the credits of the Firecrawl team you signed in with.

Starter prompt
Swap in the account you're meeting:
Use Firecrawl to prepare me for a call with Linear (linear.app). Pull from
Firecrawl Alexandria, quote each tool's price first, and run only free
lookups until I confirm the paid ones.
One page, three parts:
- Snapshot from Apollo: employees, founding year, total funding, most
recent round, headcount growth and key software they run.
- People: previews of marketing and operations leaders, no paid reveals.
- Hiring: their open roles right now.
Write "unknown" for anything the tools didn't return. Before you start
- Approve the connector. Go to the Firecrawl connector listing, choose Connect, then sign in to Firecrawl (or create a free account), select the team to bill and approve. There are no keys to copy and nothing to configure on the MCP side. Firecrawl in Claude shows each screen.
- Turn it on in the chat. Open the + menu, then Connectors, and toggle Firecrawl.
- Follow your workplace rules. Check which AI tools and data your company allows. A few providers, Benzinga among them, also require a paid Firecrawl plan.
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors, pick Firecrawl, and under Tool permissions set the Read-only tools group to Always allow, so Claude can run lookups without asking each time. Some of those lookups use Firecrawl credits, so keep confirmation on if you'd rather approve each paid call yourself.
Limitations of using Claude at work without Firecrawl
Most work questions hinge on a fresh number or a specific record, and those are where Claude without data is weakest.
- Errors that read as fact. Anthropic acknowledges that Claude occasionally gets things wrong or misleads, and recommends reviewing cited sources rather than treating Claude as the only source of truth (Anthropic). A wrong funding figure in a board memo is hard to walk back.
- Recent events are missing. Anthropic notes that every Claude model has a training cutoff and may lack accurate information about recent events (Anthropic). A competitor's new round or this year's 10-K may not be there.
- Web search has limits. Team and Enterprise owners must switch web search on before members can use it, links occasionally don't work, and searches count toward usage limits (Anthropic). Licensed data such as company databases and review platforms isn't on the open web anyway.
- Confidential inputs. The FTC cautions that customers of AI model providers may share sensitive or confidential material, such as internal documents and data about their own users (FTC). Working from public records means less internal material goes into the prompt.
- Shadow use. Citing a Conference Board survey, a Federal Reserve note reports that for 29% of respondents, management didn't know about the worker's AI use (Federal Reserve). Sourced output is easier to bring into the open.
Where Claude gets data for work tasks with Firecrawl
When you're using Claude for work, it splits a request into targeted lookups:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: Firecrawl's data layer for agents, with over 100 official providers under paid licenses and indexes Firecrawl runs itself across web pages, scientific literature, developer documentation and public-sector records. When Firecrawl had an AI judge grade 845 tasks blind, with the model and prompts held steady, agents that used Firecrawl Alexandria scored 21% higher for answer quality than those limited to default web tools.
- Matching the question to the source: company facts come from Apollo, annual report text from SEC EDGAR, software opinions from PeerSpot, and traffic from Similarweb. Claude names the provider it used.
- Paying only after you agree: Claude shows prices before calling, Apollo's person search is free, and some tools charge nothing on an empty result.
- Lookups only: Firecrawl Alexandria tools read data. They can't send messages, edit records or create accounts. A Firecrawl Monitor, if you set one up, keeps watching a page until you stop it.

Sales: walk into the call informed
One Apollo company enrichment (30 credits) on linear.app showed roughly 300 employees, a 2019 founding, $134.2M raised in total (most recently a June 2025 Series C), and 44% more staff than a year earlier. Its technology list ran from Snowflake to HubSpot.

history, growth in headcount and the sales or marketing software they

Finance and strategy: get to the point of a 10-K
For 5 credits, SEC EDGAR's sections tool returned the Risk Factors item from the 10-K Snowflake filed on Mar 20, 2026. The first risk discussed puts revenue at $4.7 billion in fiscal 2026, which ended Jan 31.
With Firecrawl, get Item 1A Risk Factors and Item 7 MD&A from Snowflake's
most recent 10-K on SEC EDGAR, and pick out the five risks most relevant
to a customer on a multi-year contract, quoting the filing.IT and procurement: compare vendors on user reviews
A PeerSpot comparison put Snowflake at 8.4 out of 10 across 108 reviews and Databricks at 8.2 across 94. It also reported their Cloud Data Warehouse mindshare as of October 2026 (15.3% and 9.4%) and quoted reviewers on ROI, support and setup cost.

number of reviews, and the main pricing and support complaints for each,
with quotes.Marketing: measure a competitor
Similarweb put ahrefs.com at roughly 8.3 million visits worldwide for August 2026, costing 110 credits for that single metric. Add Trends to see which way category interest is heading.

and "semrush" over the past year.Recruiting and HR: benchmark hiring
Apollo's job postings tool lists open roles, showing each one's title, city, date posted and URL. It needs the Apollo ID from a company enrichment, so Claude runs that first. Linear had 28 open postings, the latest a Customer Success Manager opening in New York posted on Oct 10.

grouped into teams by job title, with location and date posted. Give me

Coverage limits
- Confirm the company. Apollo describes a domain as a more reliable lookup key than a name, since names collide. Use domains and check the company name in Claude's answer.
- No internal systems. These providers cover public and licensed data, so your CRM, email and shared drives stay out of reach. Apollo previews mask surnames and emails, which only appear after a paid contact reveal.
- Similarweb is monthly. Each request covers one complete month, and in our tests worldwide requests succeeded where country-level ones did not.
