Frequently
asked questions

Everything you need to know about Firecrawl in Cursor.
General
After setup, Cursor's agent automatically uses Firecrawl tools when it determines web data is needed. Ask about current documentation, competitor pricing, or any live web content and Cursor will scrape or search as needed. You can also explicitly ask Cursor to scrape a URL or search the web.
No additional installation is needed. The MCP configuration uses npx to run firecrawl-mcp on demand, so it downloads and starts automatically. Just add the config and an API key.
Technical
Yes. Add as many MCP servers as you need in the mcpServers object. Firecrawl runs independently alongside other servers without conflict.
You can scrape single pages, crawl entire sites, search the web, map all URLs on a domain, and extract structured data using natural language. Useful for documentation lookup, competitor research, building apps with live data, and grounding Cursor's AI in real, up-to-date content.
Integration
Yes. Add a FIRECRAWL_API_URL environment variable to the MCP config pointing at your self-hosted instance. No API key is required for local instances.
Why Firecrawl?
