How to track unusual options activity in ChatGPT

Last updated: Oct 09, 2026

See which options orders hit your tickers today, how Benzinga reads them, and what the stock did next. With the Firecrawl plugin, ChatGPT can track unusual options activity through Firecrawl Alexandria, where Benzinga publishes the orders it flags as unusual.

Best for

  • Checking unusual options activity today on a stock or a watchlist before you trade it.
  • Scanning a whole session for the sweeps and big orders that stood out, grouped by ticker.
  • Lining up options flow with the news and price moves that came after it.

Plugins and data providers

Plugin: the Firecrawl plugin. Your route into Firecrawl Alexandria from ChatGPT. Provider calls are billed to your Firecrawl account.

Starter prompt

Copy this prompt, replace the tickers with yours and send it:

@firecrawl Use Benzinga's unusual options activity through Firecrawl
Alexandria for NVDA, AMD and TSLA from today's session. Tell me the price
before you run anything.

Give me a short update:
- One line per ticker with the number of flagged orders and whether
Benzinga's sentiment leaned bullish, bearish or mixed.
- Up to five orders worth a closer look, each with the time, call or put,
strike, expiry, sweep or trade, sentiment and volume.
- Any contracts that drew repeated sweeps.

Treat sentiment as Benzinga's read on the order, not a fact about the
trader. Don't give buy or sell advice.

Before you start

  • Install the Firecrawl plugin. Add it from the ChatGPT plugin directory with the button below.
  • Connect a Firecrawl account. Provider calls are billed to it. Sign up if you're new.
  • Accept Benzinga's data terms. ChatGPT shows them the first time it calls Benzinga. On a team account, an org admin may need to accept them for everyone.

Limitations of using ChatGPT for unusual options activity

Options flow is a data problem before it is an analysis problem, and ChatGPT starts the conversation without the data. That leads to five problems.

  1. No order feed. Unless it uses a tool such as search, ChatGPT doesn't know about events after its training cutoff, and it can state a wrong answer with full confidence (OpenAI). Ask which calls saw heavy buying this morning and you may get specific strikes for orders that never printed.
  2. The tape is spread across exchanges. US-listed options trade on several exchanges, and OPRA consolidates the last-sale and quote information from all of them. A post about one big trade shows a single print out of that stream, and search results rarely say how complete their picture is.
  3. A sweep hides who traded and which side. A sweep is a large order split into smaller pieces and filled quickly across several exchanges, and neither the trader nor whether the order was a buy or a sell is disclosed (SoFi). Direction is read from where the order filled, so it stays an inference.
  4. Volume isn't open interest. Volume counts contracts traded in a session, while open interest counts contracts still open (Options Industry Council). Volume above open interest can suggest a new position, and the next day's open interest is what shows whether it was one (E*TRADE). A chat answer that blends the two reads too much into a single print.
  5. Slips on figures. ChatGPT gets numerical facts wrong at times, according to a 2024 review of its use in finance. In options that matters more than usual, because one wrong digit in a strike or an expiry date describes a different contract.

How it works

Tracking options flow in ChatGPT has four parts:

  • Firecrawl Alexandria: Firecrawl's catalog of data sources for AI agents, with 100+ official providers under paid agreements and search indexes Firecrawl runs for the open web, research papers, developer material and government sources. Firecrawl's evaluation held the model and prompts constant over 845 tasks, and agents with Firecrawl Alexandria gave answers rated 21% higher in quality than agents limited to built-in web tools.
  • The data: Benzinga's unusual options activity tool takes up to 50 tickers, a single date or a date range, and returns each flagged order as a structured record.
  • Price before the call: ChatGPT finds the tool, reads its inputs and price, then runs it, and the reply names the tool it used and the credits spent.
  • No trading: ChatGPT reads Benzinga's records through your Firecrawl account and has no link to a brokerage, so it can't place an order.

Build your own options flow workflow

Tighten the prompt around how you trade. An active trader might want one session, the most aggressive orders and the next catalyst:

@firecrawl Pull today's unusual options activity for SPY, QQQ and my
watchlist: NVDA, META, AMZN. Keep only sweeps on contracts expiring within
30 days. Group them by ticker, list the five largest by volume first, and
check Benzinga's news search for each ticker for anything published today.
Show the price of each tool before running it.

A longer-term investor might care more about repeated positioning over a week:

@firecrawl Pull unusual options activity for AAPL, MSFT and GOOGL over the
last five trading days. For each ticker, tell me how many orders Benzinga
flagged, how sentiment split between bullish and bearish, and which expiry
months came up more than once. Keep it to a short paragraph per ticker.

Both prompts name the tickers, the time window, the orders that matter and the shape of the answer, which is what keeps the reply short.

Take it further

Line the orders up with what happened next

@firecrawl Find unusual options activity on TSLA from last Friday, then check
Benzinga's Why Is It Moving notes for TSLA on the next trading day.

Scan the whole market

@firecrawl List yesterday's unusual options activity across all tickers,
grouped by ticker, and show which names had the most bearish orders.

Find repeated bets

@firecrawl Pull unusual options activity for AMD, AVGO and TSM from the last
five trading days and tell me which contracts expiring this month drew
repeated sweeps.

Keep watching the news

@firecrawl Monitor news about NVDA every hour and post new stories to my
#options Slack channel.

Coverage limits

  • US-listed stocks and ETFs. Benzinga reports orders on US-listed underlyings, and many records are on index ETFs such as SPY and QQQ.
  • Orders Benzinga flags. The tool returns the orders Benzinga marks as unusual, not the full options tape, and the records our Oct 9, 2026 API test returned carried contract volume but no premium or fill price.
  • No investment advice. ChatGPT reports the orders Benzinga recorded and leaves any trading decision to you.
