Starter prompt
Change the sector, stages and window to fit what you're looking for:
@firecrawl Find startups that just raised money. Use Fireround through
Firecrawl Alexandria to search fintech seed and Series A rounds announced
in the last 14 days, and show me the price of each tool before you run it.
For each round, give me:
- Company, what it does and where it's based.
- Stage as written, amount in USD and as written, and the date.
- Lead investors and other investors.
- Certainty, the source count and a link to the official announcement.
Skip anything not announced on the record. Don't guess missing amounts. Before you start
- Get the plugin. The install button sits just below these three steps.
- Link your Firecrawl account. Lookups draw on its credits. If you don't have one, sign up first.
- Decide what counts as a round. Fireround returns announced, reported and expected rounds by default, so ask for announced only if you want closed deals.
Limitations of using ChatGPT to find startups that just raised money
Funding news breaks in many places at once, and the first version is often not the final one. Six problems follow from that.
- Last week's rounds aren't in the model. OpenAI says ChatGPT's answers don't include events past its training cutoff unless a tool is used (OpenAI). A seed round announced on Tuesday simply isn't there.
- The news is spread out. Crunchbase builds its funding records from direct input by companies and investors plus more than 1,000 news outlets and government filings (Crunchbase). A web search in ChatGPT reads only a few pages from that spread.
- Talks get reported as rounds. Reuters reported in July 2024 that Magic was in talks to raise over $200 million, based on three sources (Reuters). A summary can easily turn "in talks" into "raised".
- Headline numbers can mislead. TechCrunch reported that some of Aaru's Series A equity was bought at a $1 billion valuation and the rest lower, for a blended figure under $1 billion, and that the exact round size couldn't be learned (TechCrunch). Ranking rounds by such figures compares unlike things.
- Filings trail the money. A US startup relying on Regulation D files Form D within 15 calendar days after the first investor is irrevocably committed (SEC), and the form is a brief notice with basic details such as the offering size and the date of first sale (Investor.gov). A filing can appear up to two weeks after the money was committed, with none of the story around it.
- Invented investors. ChatGPT can produce made-up quotes and citations to sources that don't exist (OpenAI), and OpenAI's research says models tend to guess with confidence when they don't know (OpenAI). A well-known fund next to a hot startup is an easy guess to make.
How it works
Behind each answer, ChatGPT uses:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: where ChatGPT finds a funding or people tool and calls it. Apollo is one of 100+ official providers paid under agreement for their data, and the catalog also includes Fireround plus Firecrawl's Research, Developer, Government and web indexes. Over 845 tasks in Firecrawl's evals, agents using it scored 21% better on answer quality than the same agents relying on built-in web search.
- Checked rounds: Fireround collects rounds from across the open web and reads each one back against the pages it came from. Every round carries the sentence that states it, up to five source pages with the official announcement first, a total source count, and flags for whether it was verified or is still provisional.
- Certainty labels: each round is announced, reported, expected or unconfirmed, and you can filter on that. In a direct Fireround call on Oct 9, 2026, a Series B extension reported by Forbes from a person familiar with the deal came back as reported, with two sources.
- People next: Apollo's people search shows who works at a funded company before anything is spent, and you pay only for the people you choose to match.

in the last 30 days, sorted by amount. For the top five, run a free Apollo
people search on each company's domain for Head of Engineering, CTO or VP
Engineering, and tell me who has an email on file. Don't match anyone yet.For job hunting:
@firecrawl Which AI startups raised a seed or Series A in the last two
weeks? Show the amount, lead investor and what each company does,
then list the founders Apollo has for the three I'm most likely to fit as a

Coverage limits
- Stage labels follow the sources. Fireround keeps the stage as written, and a round it can't map to a standard stage lands in a bucket such as other. In a direct Fireround call on Oct 9, 2026, a $150 million growth equity round was filed under other, so a stage filter can miss it.
- Amounts are normalized. Rounds in other currencies are converted to USD, and phrasing like "over $100 million" is stored as 100. Read the amount as written when precision matters.
- Announcement dates, not close dates. The date is when the round was announced. One seed round in our Oct 9, 2026 API test was announced in October after closing in July.
- No investment advice. The data shows who raised and from whom, not whether a company is a good investment.
