Catch a company's announcement on the day it goes out, read the release as the company wrote it, and see the time it was posted. With the Firecrawl plugin, ChatGPT can pull company press releases through Firecrawl Alexandria from Nasdaq.com, which lists each ticker's releases as distributed by wires such as Business Wire, PR Newswire and GlobeNewswire.
Best for
- Checking whether a company you own has put out anything new since yesterday's close.
- Reading an earnings press release, a dividend change or a delivery update in the company's own words before the headlines rewrite it.
- Putting a release time next to a price move to see which came first.
Plugins and data providers
Plugin: the Firecrawl plugin. Lets ChatGPT search Firecrawl Alexandria and run the tools it finds, with each call billed to your Firecrawl account.
Data providers in Firecrawl Alexandria
| Provider | Tool | Job in this setup |
|---|---|---|
| Nasdaq.com | Press releases | The releases Nasdaq.com lists for one stock or ETF ticker, newest first, with title, link, posting day and the tickers tagged on each. The list gives a day, not a time. |
| Nasdaq.com | Article | Opens one release page and returns the full text plus the exact posting time from the page's own stamp. |
| Nasdaq.com | Ticker news | Third-party coverage of the same ticker from publishers such as Zacks and The Motley Fool, for seeing how a release was written up. |

Starter prompt
Put your own tickers in place of these three:
@firecrawl Through Firecrawl Alexandria, list the five newest press releases
Nasdaq.com has for MSFT, TSLA and PFE. Show me what each tool costs before
you run it.
For each ticker:
- The newest release the company itself issued: title, posting day and link.
- Open that release and give me its exact posting time in Eastern time and
three bullet points on what it announces.
- Flag any listed release issued by another company, even one tagged only
with this ticker.
Use the release text only. Quote numbers exactly as written and don't add
any buy or sell opinion. Before you start
- Get the plugin. It lives in ChatGPT's plugin directory, linked from the button after this list.
- Link Firecrawl. Tool calls draw on your Firecrawl credits, so you connect an account during setup. New users can create one first.
- Use exchange tickers. The press release tool takes a ticker as Nasdaq.com writes it (MSFT, BRK.B), plus an ETF setting for funds such as SPY.
Limitations of using ChatGPT for company press releases
A release only helps if you see the original text close to when it went out, and five things get in the way.
- Nothing after the cutoff. OpenAI says its models don't include events past their training data unless a tool such as search is used (OpenAI). Ask what a company announced this morning without one and you get an older announcement, or an invented one.
- Search lands on the coverage. ChatGPT may search the web when a question needs current information, but OpenAI warns that what it finds and cites may be out of date, partial or wrong (OpenAI). With a release, the top result is often a news write-up about it or a copy reposted on another site.
- Some sources are closed to it. OpenAI lists paywalls, technical issues and robots.txt preferences as reasons ChatGPT can't reach a page (OpenAI). By the end of 2023, 48% of the most used news sites across ten countries were blocking OpenAI's crawlers, according to the Reuters Institute.
- The filing comes later. Companies generally have four business days to file a Form 8-K after a triggering event (Investor.gov). For quarterly or annual results, the 8-K must give the release date and attach the release text as an exhibit (SEC Form 8-K), so the release is already public by the time the filing that carries it appears.
- Made-up quotes and figures. OpenAI lists fabricated quotes and citations among the mistakes ChatGPT makes, and notes the model can sound confident while being wrong (OpenAI). In a release summary, one wrong delivery count or guidance number changes the story.
How it works
Four pieces sit behind each answer:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: where ChatGPT looks up structured data. Its catalog has 100+ official providers that Firecrawl pays for access, listed public sources like Nasdaq.com, and Firecrawl-run indexes for the web, Research, Developer and Government material. In Firecrawl's evaluation, which kept the model and prompts fixed over 845 tasks, agents scored 21% higher on answer quality with Firecrawl Alexandria connected compared with built-in web tools alone.
- The release list: Nasdaq.com's press release tool returns up to 100 releases per call for one ticker, newest first, along with the total count. Each row has the day it was posted and the tickers tagged on it.
- The exact time: the list carries no time of day. ChatGPT opens a release with the article tool, which reads the page's own "Published" stamp (for example, Oct 7, 2026 4:16pm EDT) and returns it in UTC with the full body text.
- Read-only, priced up front: ChatGPT shows a tool's price before running it, reads public pages through your Firecrawl account and changes nothing anywhere.
Getting company press releases in ChatGPT with and without Firecrawl Alexandria
| On its own | Through Firecrawl Alexandria | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the release comes from | Whatever pages search ranks, often news stories about it | The ticker's release list on Nasdaq.com, fetched at the moment you ask |
| Wording | Paraphrased from coverage | Full body text of the release, starting with the wire dateline such as "(BUSINESS WIRE)" |
| Posting time | Usually a date, if any | Exact time from the release page, returned in UTC |
| Releases vs. news | Mixed together | Kept separate: a press release tool and a ticker news tool |
| Source | A mix of sites that's hard to trace | Nasdaq.com news feeds and articles, a listed source in Firecrawl Alexandria. The catalog also holds 100+ official providers in areas from finance and company data to public records and travel. Explore the catalog |
| Several companies at once | One search per company | One list call per ticker, all in a single prompt |
| Checking again | You ask again | ChatGPT can set up a Firecrawl Monitor to watch a company's newsroom page on a schedule and email you when it changes |
Build your own press release workflow
Start from how often you need to know. A trader watching earnings season wants the release and its time, fast:
@firecrawl List the three newest Nasdaq.com press releases for NFLX and
TSLA. If any was posted today, open it and give me the posting time, the
headline numbers exactly as written and any guidance the company gives.
Skip releases that don't come from the company itself. An investor reviewing holdings once a week wants the full list without the noise:
@firecrawl For each of MSFT, PFE, KO and JPM, pull the Nasdaq.com press
releases posted in the last seven days. Leave out releases from other
companies that only mention the ticker. Give me a short table with ticker,
day, title and a one-line summary. Both prompts name the tickers, a time window and what to drop, so ChatGPT opens only the releases that matter and the answer stays short.

Coverage limits
- Tickers, not private companies. The press release tool works from an exchange ticker, so a private company's announcements are out of scope.
- Tagged releases from others. The list includes every release Nasdaq.com tags with the ticker. In our Oct 9, 2026 API test, Microsoft's list included a promotional piece naming several chip and cloud stocks, Pfizer's included an Astellas release, and Coca-Cola's included a mining company's release tagged only KO. Ask ChatGPT to check the issuer in the release text and keep only the company's own.
- Checked when you ask. Each prompt reads the list at that moment. Nothing is pushed to you, so the "minute" a release posts is the minute you or a scheduled monitor checks.
- No investment advice. ChatGPT reports what the releases say and leaves trading decisions to you.
