Work out which month is cheapest for a route, narrow it to a departure day, then pull live quotes and a link to book. The Firecrawl connector lets you use Claude to find cheap flights by querying Firecrawl Alexandria, the catalog in which Skyscanner's calendars and itinerary search are available as tools Claude can run.
Best for
- Settling on travel dates by price before anything else is booked.
- Checking live fares for a fixed trip, filtered to the stops, airlines and cabin you will accept.
- Quoting a three-city itinerary in a single search.
Connector and data providers
Connector: Firecrawl's Claude connector. Once enabled, Claude can discover Skyscanner's tools in Firecrawl Alexandria and call them, with each call deducted from the Firecrawl team selected at connection time.

Starter prompt
Adjust the cities and the day count for your trip:
Use Firecrawl to search Skyscanner in Firecrawl Alexandria for cheap
flights from San Francisco to New York. Before each tool runs, tell me
what it costs.
Go step by step:
- Pull the price calendar for the next 60 days and list the five cheapest
departure days with their fares.
- Run a live one-way economy search on the cheapest of those days, sorted
by price, and give me the three cheapest options with airline, flight
numbers, times, stops and total travel time.
- Add the booking link for each.
Label every price as either a calendar estimate or a live quote. Before you start
- Enable the connector. Open the Firecrawl connector listing, choose Connect, and sign in to Firecrawl in the tab that opens, picking a team and approving access. Creating a free account works in the same flow, and nothing needs to be copied or pasted. Firecrawl in Claude shows each screen along the way.
- Turn it on in the chat. Press +, open Connectors, and switch Firecrawl on.
- Credits, not terms. Skyscanner is a public-data provider with no agreement to accept, so the only requirement is a Firecrawl balance; each Skyscanner call costs 5 credits.
If you would rather not approve every lookup by hand, open Customize, go to Connectors, pick Firecrawl, and in Tool permissions give the Read-only tools group the Always allow setting. Credits are spent on paid calls either way, so keep confirmation on if you want a say before each one.
Limitations of using Claude for cheap flights without Firecrawl
Can Claude find cheap flights unaided? Without a fare source connected, it is working from memory and from whatever pages its search opens, which leaves six holes in a flight search.
- Its knowledge ends at a fixed date. Every Claude model carries a published training cutoff, June 2026 in the case of Claude Opus 5.5, and Anthropic cautions that events after it may be unknown to the model or described inaccurately (Anthropic). A fare for next spring is not something Claude can know.
- The number may already be gone. Skyscanner explains that fares change in real time as availability and demand shift, with the cheapest seats going first (Skyscanner), and Frommer's warns that even a trustworthy aggregator can hand you to a site where the quoted fare has vanished (Frommer's).
- A confident fare can be wrong. Anthropic's own guidance is that Claude sometimes gives incorrect or misleading answers and should never be your only source of truth (Anthropic). In Frommer's late 2025 chatbot test, Claude chose Frontier for a New York to Los Angeles trip and quoted between $121 and $196; the real Frontier fare was $262 (Frommer's).
- Search surfaces pages about deals. Anthropic notes that the quality of a searched answer depends on the sources behind it and that links occasionally fail to work, and Claude may lean on a location guessed from your IP address when a request looks local (Anthropic). A deal roundup written weeks ago, or a result shaped by where you happen to be sitting, tells you little about your dates.
- The displayed fare leaves things out. According to the US Department of Transportation, discounted fares such as basic economy generally come with the strictest rules, baggage limits and the lack of a seat assignment among them (US DOT), while Google Flights states that baggage and card fees are added on top and differ by airline or agency (Google).
- Coverage depends on who is searched. Google Flights says not every airline or flight is included, since a partnership is required (Google), and Frommer's notes that Southwest, long a separate search, now turns up on 8 of its 10 top sites (Frommer's).
How Claude reads Skyscanner's calendars and live quotes with Firecrawl
What makes a Claude flight search work:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: Firecrawl's store of data built for agents, with 100+ official providers paid per use under contract, plus Firecrawl's web index and dedicated Research, Developer and Government indexes. When Firecrawl ran 845 tasks with a fixed model and prompts and blind AI judging, agents equipped with Firecrawl Alexandria produced answers that scored 21% higher for quality than agents with nothing beyond built-in web tools.
- Estimates, then quotes: the calendar and monthly tools are built on Skyscanner's cache of fares other travelers turned up over the previous eight days, which Skyscanner itself calls estimates that can change at any time (Skyscanner). The live search quotes the moment it runs and includes Skyscanner's estimate of taxes and fees. Each result says which kind it is.
- The same controls as the site: stop limits, chosen marketing or operating airlines, layover minimums and maximums, cabin class, adults and child ages, and sorting by best, cheapest or fastest, applied before the top results are returned.
- Nothing is bought: the connector reaches your Firecrawl account and nothing else. Claude can read fares and hand you a booking link; the purchase happens with the airline or agency.
Finding cheap flights using Claude, with and without Firecrawl Alexandria
| Claude unaided | Claude plus Firecrawl Alexandria | |
|---|---|---|
| Origin of the fare | Memory plus pages found by search | Skyscanner's calendar and live search, called when you ask |
| How current | As old as the page it read | Estimates from the last eight days of searches, or a quote from this minute, marked as such |
| Choosing dates | A general sense of cheap seasons | Every departure day for a year, banded low to high |
| Narrowing results | Nothing beyond the wording of your question | Stops, airlines, layovers, cabin, passenger count and sort |
| Source | Roundups, forums and route pages with equal standing | Skyscanner, one of the official Firecrawl Alexandria providers, each itinerary linked to a seller. The catalog spans 100+ providers, from travel and retail to government records. See the catalog |
| Booking | A search page to start over on | A seller's checkout link for that exact itinerary at that price |
| Checking again later | Repeat the question | Repeat the prompt; every Skyscanner call is 5 credits, so a calendar refresh with a live search comes to 10 credits in total |
Build your own cheap flight search workflow
Plenty of Claude prompts for cheap flights ask for a deal and stop there. Spell out the sequence instead. For someone who can travel any week:
With Firecrawl, use Skyscanner to find the cheapest month for a round trip
from Chicago to Lisbon in the next 12 months, then the price calendar for
that month, then a live search for the cheapest Saturday to Saturday pair
in it with no more than one stop. Economy, one adult, USD.For a family tied to the school calendar:
Use Firecrawl to search Skyscanner for round-trip flights from Boston to
Orlando out on December 20 and back on December 27, two adults plus
children aged 6 and 9, direct only, cheapest first. For the top three give
me the airline, flight numbers, times, whether changes are allowed and the
booking link.Going month, then day, then live search means the cheap calendar reads do the narrowing and the live search runs once, on dates you actually want.
Take it further
Quote a multi-city trip in one search
Use Firecrawl to price this with Skyscanner as a single search: New York
to London on March 3, London to Paris on March 8, Paris to New York on
March 12. Economy, one adult, cheapest first, with flight numbers and the
total time of each option.Stick to particular airlines
With Firecrawl, search Skyscanner for one-way Seattle to Tokyo flights on
February 10, only itineraries operated by Japan Airlines or ANA, sorted by
price.Pit airports against each other
Use Firecrawl to resolve "London" in Skyscanner, then get the price
calendar from New York to each London airport for the next 30 days and
tell me which airport is cheapest most often.See the tools and prices before spending
Use Firecrawl to list the Firecrawl Alexandria tools that search flight
fares, with what each returns and its price per call. What it costs
Discovering tools, reading their descriptions and checking what they charge is free. Credits are spent only when a tool runs, charged to the team you linked, and Firecrawl pricing lists each plan's allowance.
| Skyscanner tool | What you learn | Credits per call |
|---|---|---|
| Suggest places | Which ids stand for this city or airport | 5 |
| Price calendar | Which departure days are cheapest over the coming year | 5 |
| Monthly prices | Which month is cheapest for the route | 5 |
| Search flights | What live itineraries and quotes exist for these dates | 5 |
Claude checks the price ahead of each run, so asking it to wait for your go-ahead costs nothing.

Coverage limits
- Calendar gaps are gaps in the cache. The calendar and monthly tools only know fares that recent searches produced, and a thin route, particularly direct only, can come back empty. That says nothing about whether a flight exists; a live search for the date does.
- Baggage is not in the result. The live search leaves baggage allowance and per-segment cabin unstated, so confirm them on the seller's page before trusting a low fare.
- Claude searches; it does not book. Every itinerary links to the airline or agency, where the price can differ from the quote. Searches default to the US market and US dollars unless the prompt names another.
