One API, two integration types

Both types provision accounts the same way, through the same endpoints. They differ in who pays for what your users do.

Standard

Your users pay Firecrawl. Each account keeps its own Firecrawl plan and billing.

  • Your backend calls the Platforms API and Firecrawl creates an account and API key for the user.
  • Each user starts on Firecrawl's Free plan and upgrades with Firecrawl directly, never through you.
  • You are never in the billing relationship.

Best for products that let users connect their own Firecrawl.

Gateway

Your organization funds your users' eligible usage from its own billing.

  • Accounts your integration creates are enrolled in Gateway, so their eligible usage bills to your organization.
  • A user's own credits are used first. Anything beyond that is billed to you.
  • You keep one funding relationship with Firecrawl instead of asking each user to pay.

Best for products where Firecrawl is a built-in capability you pay for.

You choose the integration type when you create the integration and accept the agreement for that type. This choice is not easy to change afterwards, so please review both options carefully before proceeding.

From sign-in to live integration

No application and no waiting. Any admin or member of an organization on Firecrawl can set this up.

How it works

  1. 1

    Sign in to the Firecrawl dashboard, or create an account, and open the Firecrawl for Platforms page. If you are signed out, sign-in brings you straight back to it.

  2. 2

    Name your integration and choose its type: Standard, where your users pay Firecrawl, or Gateway, where your organization funds their eligible usage.

  3. 3

    Read and accept the agreement for that type. Firecrawl records the exact text you accepted, together with the Data Processing Addendum it incorporates, and Settings shows when you accepted them.

  4. 4

    Copy your platform key. It is shown once, so store it in your backend's secrets.

  5. 5

    In your product, show each user Firecrawl's Terms of Service and acceptable use policy and get their acceptance. Then call the Platforms API from your server to create their account and API key.

What you get

  • A platform key your backend uses to provision accounts, with more keys you can mint and rotate from Settings.
  • Accounts for your users. With Standard they behave like any other Firecrawl account; with Gateway they are API-only, with no dashboard login of their own.
  • A record in Settings of the agreement your organization accepted.
  • The same endpoints and the same platform key, whichever integration type you choose.
