Find the cheapest week to fly a route, compare live fares once you settle on dates, and get a booking link for the itinerary you pick. With the Firecrawl plugin, you can use ChatGPT to find cheap flights through Firecrawl Alexandria, where Skyscanner supplies the fare calendars and the live itinerary search.
Best for
- Picking the cheapest month or week for a trip before you commit to dates.
- Comparing live fares for fixed dates, with stops, airlines and layover length under your control.
- Pricing a multi-city trip as one search instead of stitching one-way searches together.
Plugins and data providers
Plugin: Firecrawl's ChatGPT plugin. It ties ChatGPT to your Firecrawl account, so ChatGPT can look up Skyscanner's tools in Firecrawl Alexandria and run them, and each run draws credits from whichever Firecrawl team you choose at connection.

Starter prompt
Trade the airports and the date window for your own:
@firecrawl Find me cheap flights from San Francisco to New York using
Skyscanner through Firecrawl Alexandria. Show me the price of each tool
before you run it.
Work in this order:
- The price calendar for the next 60 days, naming the five cheapest
departure days and their fares.
- For the cheapest of those days, a live search for a one-way economy
ticket sorted by price, with the three cheapest itineraries: airline,
flight numbers, departure and arrival times, stops and total duration.
- The booking link for each itinerary.
Say which prices are calendar estimates and which are live quotes. Before you start
- Get the plugin from the ChatGPT directory. Use the button below.
- Connect a Firecrawl account. Skyscanner calls draw on its credits, 5 per call. Sign up if you need one.
- Nothing else to accept. Skyscanner's tools read Skyscanner's public pages and APIs, so there are no provider terms to agree to and no key to paste.
Limitations of using ChatGPT for cheap flights without Firecrawl
Can ChatGPT find cheap flights on its own? Ask it for the cheapest way to fly next month and you run into six problems.
- It has no fare feed. ChatGPT's answers draw on training data that ends on a cutoff date, and OpenAI says responses do not incorporate events beyond that date unless tools are used (OpenAI). Next month's fares are past it.
- Fares move while you read. Skyscanner says flight prices change in real time with availability and demand, and the cheapest seats sell first (Skyscanner). Frommer's adds that even a reputable aggregator can send you to a site where the fare you were quoted is nowhere to be found (Frommer's).
- Invented prices and routes. OpenAI warns that ChatGPT can state incorrect facts and fabricated details with confidence (OpenAI). When Frommer's tested chatbots on a New York to Los Angeles fare in late 2025, none would commit to the exact dates, most prices were far off, ChatGPT named a $126 fare without naming an airline, and asking about more than one route at once produced cities nobody had mentioned (Frommer's).
- Deal pages instead of fares. OpenAI notes that what search returns, citations included, can be partial, stale or plain wrong (OpenAI). SmarterTravel's test got fares attached to Kayak and Skyscanner route pages, one-way prices when a round trip was wanted, and no dates until the writer asked a second time (SmarterTravel).
- The headline fare leaves costs out. The US Department of Transportation says discounted tickets such as basic economy generally carry the strictest rules, including baggage restrictions and no seat assignment (US DOT), and Google Flights notes that baggage and card fees come on top of the displayed price and vary by seller (Google).
- No single search sees every airline. Google Flights says not all airlines or flights are included because a partnership is required (Google), and Frommer's recalls that Southwest fares once had to be searched on their own and now appear on 8 of its top 10 sites (Frommer's).
How ChatGPT searches Skyscanner fares with Firecrawl
Four pieces make a ChatGPT flight search work:
- Firecrawl Alexandria: Firecrawl's catalog of data for AI agents. It carries 100+ official providers under paid agreements, alongside Firecrawl's web index and the Research, Developer and Government indexes it runs. In Firecrawl's evals, 845 tasks that held the model and prompts constant, agents working with Firecrawl Alexandria beat agents on built-in web tools by a 21% margin in answer quality.
- Two kinds of price: the calendar and monthly tools return Skyscanner's cached estimates, which Skyscanner describes as based on what other travelers found in the last eight days (Skyscanner). The live search returns quotes from the moment it runs, with Skyscanner's estimate of taxes and fees included. The output labels which is which, and ChatGPT can pass that label on.
- Filters that match the site: the live search takes a maximum number of stops, specific marketing or operating airlines, minimum and maximum layover minutes, cabin class, adult and child counts, and a sort by best, cheapest or fastest. Multi-city trips go in as up to six legs in one search.
- Price before the call: ChatGPT sees each tool's credit price before running it, every Skyscanner read is 5 credits, and the plugin reaches only your Firecrawl account, which lets ChatGPT search but never book or pay.
Finding cheap flights using ChatGPT, with and without Firecrawl Alexandria
| ChatGPT by itself | ChatGPT with Firecrawl Alexandria | |
|---|---|---|
| Where fares come from | Training data and pages that write about deals | Skyscanner's calendars and live search, run when you ask |
| Freshness | Whenever the page was written | Calendar estimates from recent searches and live quotes from the moment the tool runs, each labelled |
| Cheapest dates | A guess at a season | A fare for every departure day over 12 months, banded low, medium and high |
| Filters | Whatever the page happened to cover | Stops, airlines, layover length, cabin, passengers and sort order |

Build your own cheap flight search workflow
Search for how to use ChatGPT to find cheap flights and you mostly get ChatGPT prompts for cheap flights that ask for a bargain and leave the method to chance. Give ChatGPT an order of operations instead. For a traveler with flexible dates:
@firecrawl Use Skyscanner to show me the cheapest month to fly round trip
from Chicago to Lisbon in the next 12 months, then the price calendar for
that month, then a live search for the cheapest Saturday to Saturday pair
in it with at most one stop. Economy, one adult, prices in USD.For a family locked into school holidays:
@firecrawl Search Skyscanner for round-trip flights from Boston to Orlando
leaving December 20 and returning December 27 for two adults and children
aged 6 and 9. Direct flights only, sorted by price. For the three cheapest,
list the airline, flight numbers, times, whether changes are allowed and
the booking link.Naming the order (month, then day, then live search) keeps the calendar reads cheap and spends the live search only on the dates that matter.
Take it further
Price a multi-city trip in one go
@firecrawl Use Skyscanner to price this trip as one search: New York to
London on March 3, London to Paris on March 8, Paris to New York on March
12. Economy, one adult, cheapest first, with flight numbers and the total
duration of each option.Hold out for an airline you trust
@firecrawl Search Skyscanner for one-way flights from Seattle to Tokyo on
February 10, keeping only itineraries operated by Japan Airlines or ANA,
sorted by price.Compare airports
@firecrawl Resolve "London" in Skyscanner, then show me the price calendar
from New York to each London airport for the next 30 days. Which airport
is cheapest most often?Check the tools and their prices first
@firecrawl Which Firecrawl Alexandria tools can search flight fares? List
each one with what it returns and its price per call. What it costs
ChatGPT can list the tools, read what they return and check their prices without spending anything. Running one spends Firecrawl credits, and Firecrawl pricing lists how many each plan includes.
| Skyscanner tool | What it answers | Credits per call |
|---|---|---|
| Suggest places | Which city and airport codes a name maps to | 5 |
| Price calendar | The cheapest fare per departure day for a year ahead | 5 |
| Monthly prices | The cheapest month to fly a route | 5 |
| Search flights | Live itineraries and quotes for exact dates | 5 |
ChatGPT reports the tool and the credit cost after every run.
Install the Firecrawl plugin and ask ChatGPT for the cheapest days to fly any route. Finding the right tool is free.

Coverage limits
- Calendars are estimates. The price calendar and monthly prices come from Skyscanner's cache of recent searches, and thin routes have gaps, especially with direct flights only. A missing day means no cached fare, not no flight, so run the live search for that date.
- No baggage allowance in results. The live search does not state baggage or the cabin of each segment, so check the seller's page before paying for a fare that looks cheap.
- Search is not booking. Each itinerary carries a booking link to the airline or agency, and the price can change by the time that page loads. Results default to the US market in US dollars; name another market or currency in the prompt to change that.
