- `event` (string): `incidence`: new cases (cancer registries); `mortality`: cancer deaths (death certificates). Not prevalence. Example: `incidence`
- `from_year` (number): First single year of a trend; with `to_year` (default the latest). Not for counties. Example: `1999`
- `include_combined_sites` (boolean): With `site: all`: false drops sites that group other sites of the same table (All Cancer Sites Combined, Digestive System, Male and Female Breast, Lymphomas and so on), so a ranking lists single sites only. Example: `false`
- `limit` (number): Rows returned after sorting; `total_count` has them all. Example: `100`
- `race` (string): Race and ethnicity, non-Hispanic except `hispanic`. Incidence uses bridged race (`asian_pacific_islander`); deaths from 2018 and county rows use single race, where `asian` and `native_hawaiian_pacific_islander` exist; a race the table lacks for the filters is an empty result with a warning. Example: `all`
- `sex` (string): Default `all` (USCS `Male and Female`). A sex-specific site (Prostate, Cervix, Ovary, Female Breast, Male Breast and similar) is read under its own sex; the other sex fails. Example: `all`
- `site` (string): Cancer site, default `All Cancer Sites Combined`: a USCS name matched case-insensitively (`Pancreas`, `Lung and Bronchus`, `Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma`), an everyday name (`pancreatic`, `lung`, `breast` for Female Breast, `colorectal`, `melanoma`, `leukemia`, `uterine`), or the one site having every word given; `all` for every site of the table. State, county and age tables have 27 to 30 sites, the national table 83. An unknown name fails and lists the table's sites. Example: `All Cancer Sites Combined`
- `sort` (string): Order by rate or count; rows without the value come last. Default: by area, age group, site and year. Example: `rate_desc`
- `state` (string): One state or a list, by name (`Texas`) or USPS code (`TX`), for breakdowns `state` and `county`; omitted means all 50 states and DC. The tables are grouped by state, so a few states read less of the archive. Example: `<state>`
- `to_year` (number): Last single year of a trend; with `from_year` (default 1999). Example: `1999`
- `year` (string): One year (`2023`) or a 5-year period as USCS writes it (`2019-2023`). Default: the latest single year the table has for the event (2023 for incidence, 2024 for deaths in the 1999-2023 release); counties have only their 5-year period. Not with `from_year`/`to_year`. Pattern: ^\d{4}(-\d{4})?$. Example: `2023`

- Capability: `cancer-statistics/search`
- Description: Cancer incidence (new cases) or mortality (deaths) counts and rates from one USCS table: by state and year (`state`), by county for the latest 5-year period (`county`), by age group for the U.S. (`age`), or for the U.S. by detailed site (`national`), filtered by site, sex, race and ethnicity, states and year or year range, optionally sorted. Each row has the area (state code, county name and FIPS, or age group), year, site, sex, race, count, population, rate per 100,000 (age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. standard population, or age-specific in the age table) with its 95% confidence interval, and a status for the count and the rate: `suppressed_under_16` (fewer than 16 cases or deaths), `suppressed_state_request`, `suppressed_complementary` (withheld because the other sex's count is suppressed) or `not_available`, never a 0 in their place. Defaults: all sites combined, incidence, both sexes, all races, the latest year. No matching row is an empty result with a warning.

- `site` (string): Cancer site, default `All Cancer Sites Combined`: a USCS name matched case-insensitively (`Pancreas`, `Lung and Bronchus`, `Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma`), an everyday name (`pancreatic`, `lung`, `breast` for Female Breast, `colorectal`, `melanoma`, `leukemia`, `uterine`), or the one site having every word given; `all` for every site of the table.
