## Capabilities

- [Active storms](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/active_storms): Tropical and subtropical cyclones NHC is currently advising on (Atlantic, eastern and central Pacific), from CurrentStorms.json: id, name, classification, position, intensity, pressure, motion, the current advisory number and issuance, links to the current text products, and the forecast-track, cone, watches/warnings and wind-radii GIS files. An empty list means NHC has no active storms.
- [Best track](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/best_track): A storm's ATCF best track from NHC: one point per synoptic time with position, maximum wind, minimum pressure, development level (DB, TD, TS, HU, EX ...), radius of maximum wind and 34/50/64-kt wind radii, plus name, start, end, peak wind and lowest pressure. Reads the live b-deck for current storms and the gzip archive for past ones (1851 onward for the Atlantic). Best tracks of active storms are operational and revised after the season.
- [Season storms](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/season_storms): Every storm in one NHC season (2008 to the current year) from the season archive page: ATCF id, name, peak classification and archive links, optionally for one basin. Early in a season the list can be empty.
- [Storm advisory](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/storm_advisory): One NHC advisory product for a storm (2008 and later), by default the latest public advisory: the full text plus parsed heading, storm title, advisory number, issuance (local and UTC), headline, underlined sections (summary, watches and warnings, discussion and outlook, hazards) and, for public advisories, the summary position, winds, motion and pressure. Also reads forecast/advisories, forecast discussions and wind speed probabilities, latest or by advisory number.
- [Storm products](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/storm_products): Every archived advisory product for one storm (2008 and later): public advisories including intermediate ones (12A), forecast/advisories, forecast discussions and wind speed probabilities, each with its advisory number and URL, plus the latest public advisory number. Works for active storms, whose archive NHC updates with each advisory. Lists what the storm's archive index links: some season indexes (2024) leave the discussion and wind-probability columns empty, and storm_advisory still reads those products by advisory number.
- [Tropical outlook](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/tropical_outlook): The current NHC Tropical Weather Outlook for one basin (Atlantic; eastern North Pacific; central North Pacific from CPHC Honolulu), parsed: issuance, active systems paragraph, each disturbance with its area, description and 48-hour and 7-day formation chances (category and percent), other statements, the forecaster and the full text, plus links to the 2-day and 7-day outlook graphics and GIS shapefiles. No disturbances is a normal answer (formation not expected).

### Best track

- Capability: `weather/best_track`
- Description: A storm's ATCF best track from NHC: one point per synoptic time with position, maximum wind, minimum pressure, development level (DB, TD, TS, HU, EX ...), radius of maximum wind and 34/50/64-kt wind radii, plus name, start, end, peak wind and lowest pressure. Reads the live b-deck for current storms and the gzip archive for past ones (1851 onward for the Atlantic). Best tracks of active storms are operational and revised after the season.
- Instructions: Where did a storm go and how strong was it over time; track points for mapping or analysing a hurricane.
- Cost: 5 credits per call
- Capability file: [Best track](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/best_track)

Accepted options:
- `storm_id` (string, required): ATCF storm id: basin al (Atlantic), ep (eastern Pacific) or cp (central Pacific), the two-digit cyclone number and the season, e.g. al092024 (Hurricane Helene). Case-insensitive. Find ids with active_storms or season_storms. Pattern: ^\s*([Aa][Ll]|[Ee][Pp]|[Cc][Pp])[0-9]{6}\s*$. Example: `<storm_id>`

### Season storms

- Capability: `weather/season_storms`
- Description: Every storm in one NHC season (2008 to the current year) from the season archive page: ATCF id, name, peak classification and archive links, optionally for one basin. Early in a season the list can be empty.
- Instructions: Find a storm's ATCF id from its name and year (Helene 2024 is al092024), or list a season's storms.
- Cost: 5 credits per call
- Capability file: [Season storms](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/season_storms)

Accepted options:
- `basin` (string): Only storms whose ATCF id is in this basin (central Pacific storms that formed in the eastern Pacific keep their ep id). Example: `atlantic`
- `year` (number, required): Season year, 2008 or later. Example: `2008`

### Storm advisory

- Capability: `weather/storm_advisory`
- Description: One NHC advisory product for a storm (2008 and later), by default the latest public advisory: the full text plus parsed heading, storm title, advisory number, issuance (local and UTC), headline, underlined sections (summary, watches and warnings, discussion and outlook, hazards) and, for public advisories, the summary position, winds, motion and pressure. Also reads forecast/advisories, forecast discussions and wind speed probabilities, latest or by advisory number.
- Instructions: Read what NHC says about a storm: its current or a past public advisory, the forecaster's discussion, the forecast/advisory with forecast positions and wind radii, or wind speed probabilities for coastal locations.
- Cost: 5 credits per call
- Capability file: [Storm advisory](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/storm_advisory)

Accepted options:
- `advisory` (string): Advisory number (12, 012) or intermediate public advisory (12A). Omit for the latest. Pattern: ^\s*[0-9]{1,3}[A-Za-z]?\s*$. Example: `<advisory>`
- `product` (string): Which product to read. Example: `public_advisory`
- `storm_id` (string, required): ATCF storm id: basin al (Atlantic), ep (eastern Pacific) or cp (central Pacific), the two-digit cyclone number and the season, e.g. al092024 (Hurricane Helene). Case-insensitive. Find ids with active_storms or season_storms. Pattern: ^\s*([Aa][Ll]|[Ee][Pp]|[Cc][Pp])[0-9]{6}\s*$. Example: `<storm_id>`

### Storm products

- Capability: `weather/storm_products`
- Description: Every archived advisory product for one storm (2008 and later): public advisories including intermediate ones (12A), forecast/advisories, forecast discussions and wind speed probabilities, each with its advisory number and URL, plus the latest public advisory number. Works for active storms, whose archive NHC updates with each advisory. Lists what the storm's archive index links: some season indexes (2024) leave the discussion and wind-probability columns empty, and storm_advisory still reads those products by advisory number.
- Instructions: See which advisories exist for a storm before reading one with storm_advisory, or get links to its full advisory history.
- Cost: 5 credits per call
- Capability file: [Storm products](https://firecrawl.dev/alexandria/agents/providers/nhc-noaa-gov/weather/storm_products)

Accepted options:
- `storm_id` (string, required): ATCF storm id: basin al (Atlantic), ep (eastern Pacific) or cp (central Pacific), the two-digit cyclone number and the season, e.g. al092024 (Hurricane Helene).
