- Capability: `archive-records/search_records`
- Description: Keyword search of the M&S Heritage catalogue through the site's own AJAX search (admin-ajax.php, action pres_search_paged_posts). One page of up to 50 results (items and folders) with the Preservica id, title, description, date, page URL and thumbnail URL of each hit, plus the collection and file-format facets of the result set (terms with a non-zero count only). Optional narrowing by folder (folder_id, the search runs inside that folder's hierarchy), top-level collection (collection_id, a facet term), preservation file format (format, a facet term such as pdf or jpeg) and archival reference number (reference_number, the site's Refno field filter, a loose match). Sort by relevance (default) or title. `page_count` is the number of result pages the site links to; the total hit count is not part of the JSON answer.

- `format` (string): Restrict to one preservation file format: a term of the `xip.format_group_r_Preservation` facet, e.g. pdf, jpeg, mpeg-video. Example: `xip.format_group_r_Preservation`
- `page` (number): 1-based result page (50 hits per page). A page past the last one answers not_found. Example: `1`
- `query` (string): Keyword(s), as typed into the site's search box. May be empty when a filter (collection_id, format, reference_number or folder_id) is given. Example: `<query>`
- `reference_number` (string): Archival reference number (Refno) filter, e.g. CR/D/3/2 or HO/3/2/2/2. The site matches loosely (parent and sibling references can appear); compare `metadata` Reference Number from get_record when exactness matters. Example: `<reference_number>`
